The first-ever Mega Macao makes an impressive debut

The first trade fair of its kind in Macao

Riding on the renowned success of its Mega Show Series in Hong Kong every October, Kenfair International Limited, a leading Hong Kong-based trade exhibition organiser, extended the thriving trade sourcing event to the nearby uprising city, Macao, last October.

Macao is on a high flying roll, being widely recognised one of the fastest-growing and most vibrant cities in Asia. With the gaming, tourism, hotels and conference sectors on an explosive boom, the city is being transformed into a destination more than just a gaming haven. Macao is set to become a key MICE (meeting, incentive, conference and exhibition) destination in Asia.

Modelled on the world-renowned Las Vegas Strip in the US, the magnificent Venetian Macao Convention and Exhibition Center is as the largest exhibition venue in the city. It is a key part of The Venetian Macao-Resort- Hotel complex blending exhibitions, leisure, travel, gaming and entertainment under one roof. Upon full completion, the exhibition venue will accommodate up to 5,000 stands at a time. Kenfair took the lead to capitalise on the huge business opportunities of the burgeoning enclave by staging the brand new Mega Macao at the spectacular Venetian Convention and Exhibition Center on 18-20 October, 2007 as the first-ever trade exhibition of its kind and scale to be held in the city.

Impressive outcome

Over the 3-day show, a total of 8,789 buyers from almost 100 countries were treated to a huge wide array of toys, gifts, advertising & promotional premiums, consumer electronics, household products, home textiles, fashion, garments & accessories and lifestyle products featured in over 1,100 booths by 920 suppliers mainly from Asia. The largest contingent of exhibiting companies were from Hong Kong, Mainland China and Taiwan. India, Vietnam, the Philippines and Thailand also made a substantial representation at the show. Apart from the expected high attendance of local visitors from Macao, the nearby cities from China and Hong Kong, the show recorded a solid number of overseas buyers. While USA and Canada topped the foreign country list, a strong attendance from major European countries like France, Italy, Germany and Spain gave the show an impressive international feel.

Highly positive feedback from both buyers and exhibitors were received by the organiser Kenfair via an onsite questionnaire survey and interviews. Most buyers rated the show was very good as a first-time event with such a diverse mix of products and suppliers. And of course, they were amazed at the wonderful Venetian venue. On the exhibitor side, most of the interviewed said that they achieved much better-than-expected results. Some reported highly satisfactory results and having met quite a lot of new potential buyers. Many of them expressed interest in making a return to this Macao show.

The success edges

In addition to the spectacular exhibition venue and entertainment appeals, Macao’s convenient transport link by land and by ferry with Hong Kong and nearby China’s cities, the much cheaper hotel rates and expenses, plus the simple visitor entry policy of Macao, will all help to give an upside on the successful run of Kenfair’s Mega Macao show.

“We welcome all to an unprecedented trade fair experience at Mega Macao,” invites Mr. Herbert Ip, Chairman of Kenfair International. "Seeing all these favourable factors and the immense yet unexploited potential of the city's exhibition industry, we are committed to extending our reach to Macao. We are sure to gather another strong line-up of leading suppliers from major Asian countries and regions for our next upcoming Mega Macao this April."

The upcoming spring session of Mega Macao is scheduled on 21-23 April 2008. Interested buyers may register online at the fair’s official website www.megamacao.com to receive their free admission badges and updates well before the show.
